Upcycled fruit is fruit that isn't perfectly shaped for sale in grocery stores, and would potentially go to a landfill if there wasn't a way to use it. We source our fruits from farmers and are happy to take their upcycled fruits (especially kiwis) that may not be the perfect shape. They're still super delicious!

Often the skin of the fruit holds loads of nutrients and fiber that we are throwing away when peeling or cutting it off. The skin of the kiwi holds much of the vitamin C, triples the fiber content, and gives our kiwi chips the tang that you taste. The skin on our Mango chips is full of fiber, and by not cutting that skin off we are reducing waste. The core of the pineapple is used in our Pina chips as it is still delicious and after we have prepared it with a special manner to soften it, it's fully edible and increases the fiber in our chips! Lastly, the beautiful Orange chips include the rind which provides a large amount of fiber, vitamin C, and antioxidants. And as always we're reducing waste by keeping the skin and not disgarding it in our processes.

Kiwis are a superfood that aren’t usually seen in the snack aisle and we wanted to change that. Kiwis are full of nutrients, and the health benefits from kiwis surpass many other fruits. We manufacture our kiwi chips a special way that retains the nutrients in the fruit and results in a sweet and sour candy-like chip that we needed to share with the world! One serving of original Chiwis has more vitamin C than two oranges and more potassium than two bananas! Chiwis are nature’s candy, with a delightful taste in a nutritious package.

Chiwis are 100% gluten free. The only ingredients we use in Chiwis are fresh fruits. Our production facilities are gluten free, meaning there are no gluten products anywhere near our kitchens or equipment.

Chiwis are a vegan friendly snack that anyone can love. We don’t use any animal products in any of our recipes and never will. We love all animals, just ask our office dog Norah the Explorer :)

Kiwis vary in size, but there are about 4 full kiwis per full package of Chiwis Original flavour, and 2 full kiwis in Chiwis Tropical flavour (which has pineapple and coconut as well).

Chiwis are made in a very special manner that keeps much more of the nutrients in the chip than conventional dehydration methods. Chiwis contain the same amount of nutrients as fresh fruit but are condensed in a much smaller package! Chiwis contain about 3.5 times the amount of fiber, vitamins, and minerals per gram than fresh fruit.

Kiwis are so special because they are full of nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin E, folate, and potassium, all packed into a powerful little package. Every part of the kiwi is edible and that’s why we use the skin! Did you know that the high amount of vitamin C and antioxidants in kiwis can have a beneficial effect on lung function for people suffering with asthma, and can also support immune function? The fiber in kiwis helps digestion, and the antioxidants in this superfruit can help reduce the risk of oxidative DNA damage. Kiwis are also proven to lower blood pressure, a study in 2014 found evidence that three kiwis a day can lower blood pressure more than an apple a day! We told you kiwis are special :)

Chiwis are a natural product and we process very minimally. We wash our kiwis (that come right from orchards near our manufacturing facility) and then slice them using a big machine that slices a very large amount of kiwis at a time. Sometimes the slicer won't cut off the part of the kiwi where the stem used to be attached and those pieces will end up becoming chips. We try to ensure that none of those nubby chips get in the packaging line but sometimes some sneak through, and that's why we have a small warning on the back of our bag to let you know that you may see some bits of stem. We keep the core in our chips because it's a fiber filled delicious part of the fruit that we wanted to use and not waste! We make sure the core is processed through a step that softens it up so it's ready for snacking once made into a chip :)

It is possible that people can be allergic to kiwi but it is rare.

Yes! We can ship orders up to $250 to the USA. We will create a customs declaration for your order and it will be shipped out with our weekly orders. We are working on setting up distribution in the USA, and we hope to be in your favourite stores soon.
